Rules & community standards

How we keep the exchange clean.

CrossLot only works if every lot plays it straight. This is the code we hold each other to — what you can post, how the number stays fair, and how we transact. It’s short on purpose. Read it once; it’s how we operate.

Minimum to post a unit
AGE
45 days and up
TITLE
Clean, in hand, accurate
MILEAGE
True and verified
CONDITION
Disclosed honestly
PRICE
≤ 91% cost-to-market
Mechanical & condition minimums
TIRES
3/32" tread and above

Tires need not match brand, but must be the same size unless the vehicle is factory-specced for a staggered setup.

BRAKES
3/32" and above

Pad and lining material at or above 3/32" remaining across the vehicle.

TIRE FAIL THRESHOLD
Two tires must fail

One tire below spec is not a fail. At least two tires must fall below 3/32" before the unit qualifies for any pricing adjustment.

ELECTRICAL & CONTROLS
Everything works

All major switches and controls operate — instrument cluster, infotainment screen, window switches, sunroof, and any other electrical control in the cabin.

A/C
Within 5° of factory

Cools to within 5°F of the manufacturer’s target vent temperature — a healthy system delivers roughly 38–42°F at the center vent.

DRIVETRAIN
Starts, stops, steers

Vehicle starts, stops, and steers safely. Engine and transmission are in retailable condition.

01

A seat is earned, not bought.

CrossLot is invitation-only and starts in South Florida. Every seat is one licensed, verified rooftop in good standing. Your seat reflects on the whole exchange — treat it like it does.

02

Post only what you would stand behind retail.

Units in the pool are frontline-ready aged inventory — 45 days and up. No undisclosed frame, flood, or branded-title cars. Mileage is accurate. Condition is described honestly. If you would not put it on your own front line, it does not belong in the pool.

03

The cost-to-market number is neutral, and we keep it that way.

Your upload is a baseline. Every unit is automatically reappraised — shortly after upload and on an ongoing basis — to confirm cost-to-market, equipment, and mileage. Added equipment and stale figures get corrected so no lot can tilt the number in its favor. The basis is the same for everyone.

04

Exit at the number. You can give, never grab.

Every unit lists at 91% of cost-to-market. You may lower your ask to move a car faster — you may never raise it above the platform exit. The discipline is the product: a known, fair number, every time.

05

A swap is a handshake between two principals.

When you propose and a counterparty accepts, it is a binding transaction between the two of you as dealers. Honor it. Title and possession pass dealer-to-dealer; CrossLot never takes title, custody, or your money for the vehicles. Any cash difference settles directly and promptly.

06

Inspect at both ends of the truck.

Transport is coordinated through licensed, independent carriers. Inspect at pickup and again at delivery, and flag any discrepancy immediately — condition disputes are settled on the facts at handoff, not days later.

07

Your word is your rating.

Every swap is rated dealer-to-dealer — how you represented the unit, how you settled, how you transported. Ghosting a proposed deal, misrepresenting a car, or backing out of an accepted swap follows you. Reputation is the currency that keeps a small exchange honest.

08

A few things end your seat.

Title or odometer fraud, repeated misrepresentation, non-payment, or abusive conduct toward another member. These are not strikes-and-warnings matters — they pull your seat. Everyone here is trusting the next lot to play it straight.

Recourse for rule breakers
01
Mandatory pre-inspection

Every swap requires a pre-inspection before it can be finalized, at the receiving dealer’s cost — typically around $149. Follow the rules, no inspections.

02
Strike system

Strikes flag slipping standards and potential bad actors before small problems become a pattern.

03
Star ratings

After every completed swap, dealers rate each other — how the unit was represented, how it settled, how they were treated.

04
RO review for repeat issues

If a dealer’s vehicle quality becomes a problem, we add internal service ROs — showing the inspection and the work done before frontline — on top of pre-inspections before any swap is approved.

05
Suspension, then deplatforming

Enough strikes and enough rule-breaking leads to suspension, and eventually removal from the platform.

06
No pathway back

Deplatforming is permanent. New owner, new GM, new staff — it doesn’t matter. It was your used-car manager, it was a salesman — doesn’t matter. Once the trust is gone, it’s gone forever.

07
Weigh the one car

Before you game the number to dump one unit, think about everything you’re giving up — every future swap, every opportunity to right-size your aged inventory on this platform. It’s never worth one car.

These standards are incorporated into the Terms of Service and may be updated as the exchange grows. Members in good standing get notice of material changes.
